The Rok VLR exhaust pipe comes with a large nut - style EGT bung. Right from the factory, this pipe has a welded EGT bung. Now, let's explore your options. The bung is versatile, suitable for both the Big Nut EGT sensor style and the 5mm external thread small EGT sensor. However, out of the box, the pipe isn't ready for either bung. If you choose the Big Nut Style EGT, you'll need to drill a small hole at the bottom of the pipe bung to insert the sensor. For the 5mm External Thread Style EGT sensor, you have to grind or cut the EGT bung to the 'flat' part and then drill the center. Make sure the hole isn't too big to remove the inner 5mm threads. Sometimes, after cutting and drilling, you may need to run a 5mm tap through the hole to clean the threads. Don't worry, Comet can prepare the bung for you. Just select the option from the dropdown menu when ordering, and it'll be ready when you receive it.

Using this Rok VLR exhaust pipe is quite straightforward. First, decide which type of EGT sensor you want to use - the Big Nut Style or the 5mm External Thread Style. If you pick the Big Nut Style, grab a drill and make a small hole at the bottom of the pipe bung. For the 5mm External Thread Style, you'll need to use a grinder or cutter to get the bung to the 'flat' part and then drill the center carefully. After that, if needed, use a 5mm tap to clean the threads. As for maintenance, keep an eye on the EGT bung and the sensor. Check for any signs of wear or damage regularly. If you notice anything wrong, it's best to replace the parts promptly. Also, when installing, make sure all connections are tight to prevent any leaks. And remember, if you don't want to do the prep work yourself, Comet can do it for you, so just choose that option when you order.
